1. Health Charter for the Elderly in Chiang Rai province

Considering the increasing number of the elderly in Chiang Rai province, the school for the elderly located at Hua Fai Temple in San Klang sub district developed a health charter for the elderly in collaboration with the local government, local hospital, social development authorities and community members. This initiative will soon be extended to 87 elderly schools.

2. Agricultural and Food Safety in Phichit Province

As of one of the highest number of farmers with agricultural chemical residues stored, Phichit province organized a health assembly and came up with a resolution on reducing chemical use in agriculture. All sectors especially civil society organizations put this resolution into action until it became the policy of the provincial Governor.

3. Provincial Health Assembly in Satul Province

Drinking tea is a culture in Satul province and other provinces in the southern region of Thailand. Using chemical colour for tea making was found in the province alerting community’s concern. Multi-sectors organized a health assembly to solve this problem which was associated with their tea drinking culture.

4. Disaster management in Chumphon Province

Due to facing flooding and land slide frequently, disaster management became a resolution of the health assembly of Chomporn province in 2014.  This resolution was in line with the resolution of the 4th National Health Assembly in 2011. The Lang Suan river basin area was selected as a pilot area to develop a natural disaster surveillance system operated in collaboration with community members, local government and local academic sector.

5. A good case study of the Health Charter

The health charter of Chang Sai sub-district in Surat Thani Province was a good example of collaboration on healthy food between residents in the sub-district and neighboring residents or day trip vendors. In addition, this sub-district can mobilize resources from other organizations such as National Health Security Office to implement the health charter.

6. Healthy School Lunch in Surin province

Surin Happy Healthy School was initiated in line with a resolution of the provincial health assembly on the management of school catering. This campaign had expanded from schools to day-care centers. 8 out of 17 districts had executed this campaign in 2016 and it is expected to fully execute in all districts in 2018.

7. No alcohol in all festivals

Alcohol drinking and gamble in festivals including funerals was a common practice in Nong Hin Sub-district, Roi Et Province. Health Charter was used to solve this issue. Despite it is not a law, everyone abides by. This can happen because everyone engaged in the process of developing the health charter and agreed not to do harmful for your health and others.

8. Health Impact Assessment on BanPho Commercial Port

Ban Pho community in Chachoengsao province requested the HIA Commission to facilitate HIA process on a commercial port located in their district because they were afraid the construction of the commercial port would affect local fisheries and palm planting area. HIA was conducted with engagement of local associations, BanPho society, community members and academia.

9. The farmer school in Nakornprathom province

The farmer school is the output of the resolution of the provincial health assembly in 2015, which is about organic agriculture and food safety. This resolution is also linked with the National Health Assembly resolution in 2008 and 2013. The farmer’s school is a learning center on organic farming for farmers. Now, they run the organic market every Tuesday.

10. Bangkok: tourists and residents

The big tourism industry in Bangkok has brought positive and negative impacts to people and the city. Cultural tourism, old town development and housing in urban area would be an answer for this matter. National Health Commission Office joined hand with partners and active citizens to set up a working group and network to solve the problems.
