The global webinar series on Social Participation: Embedding social participation in strategic planning for health

In collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), and with support from the UHC2030 Civil Society Engagement Mechanism (CSEM) and the WHO Civil Society Commission, Thailand’s National Health Commission Office (NHCO) is organizing the Global Webinar Series on Social Participation entitled:

Embedding social participation in strategic planning for health: Enhancing community involvement for effective health policies”

 Date: June 25, 2026

Time: 13.00-14.30 CEST (Geneva time)

 Format: Zoom webinar.

The webinar aims to advance global dialogues on instutionalizing social participation within national health system planning process.

This webinar builds on WHO’s commitment to social participation and inclusive governance, showcasing examples of country where participatory approaches to health system strategic planning have been developed and implemented in systematic ways, informing health planning at local, regional and national levels.

In line with WHO’s broader work on strengthening integrated national health policy, strategy and planning (NHPSP) processes, the webinar will explore how participatory approaches can be embedded across the full planning cycle – from situation analysis and priority setting to implementation, monitoring and performance review-ensuring that national health strategies are more legitimate, coherent, feasible and responsive to population needs.

Through technical presentations and an interactive panel, speakers will discuss how participatory dialogue can shape the selection of strategic priorities in health systems strategic planning and what arrangements can enable the transition from ad hoc consultation to more systematic and institutionalized participation within national health planning processes.
