This webinar build on WHO’s commitment to social participation and inclusive governance, the session will showcase country examples where participatory approaches to health system strategic planning have been developed and implemented in systematic ways, informing health planning at local, regional and national levels.
In line with WHO’s broader work on strengthening integrated national health policy, strategy and planning (NHPSP) processes, the webinar will explore how participatory approached can be embedded across the full planning cycle-from situation analysis and priority setting to implementation, monitoring and performance review-ensuring that national health strategies are more legitimate, coherent, feasible and responsive to population needs.
The focus of this dialogue will be how participatory dialogue shape the selection of strategic priorities in health systems strategic planning and what institutional arrangements have enable the transition from ad hoc consultation to more systematic and institutionalized participation within national health planning processes.
Through technical presentations and interactive panels, participants will explore how countries are moving from ad hoc consultation practices towards institutionalized, predictable and inclusive participatory processes that are embedded within health system planning at local, subnational and national levels. The discussion will highlight how participatory dialogue recurs at multiple stage of the policy cycle, helping interpret evidences, deliberate trade-offs, validate progress and inform course correction overtime.
