Asian Health Institute (AHI), Japan and ILDC alumni co-organized the online learning session called Chika-Chika on Health Assembly for social participation in Health Policy which focused on the case of Thailand Health Assembly and Tamil Nadu Health Assembly.
The Health Assembly (HA) was established in Tamil Nadu in India at state and district level in 2021. It was appeared that these HAs were modeled after the National Health Assembly of Thailand which started since 2008. In 2024 Ms. Khanitta Saeiew and Mr. Savariouradimi Josephstalin launched a new initiative for learning from one another and exploring the strategies to improve the HA in both Thailand and Tamil Nadu, India. They try involving their working partners and other ILDC alumni in this endeavor.
The online learning session has been organized since March 2024 and the session highlighted several experiences including background and context of each assembly, challenges faced by each country, Thailand’s experience in enhancing the government sector’s sense of responsibility and active participation in the Health Assembly process.
