The Global Network for Health in All Policies (GNHiAP)
The Global Network for Health in All Policies (GNHiAP) is a country-led initiative that was launched by the governments of Sudan, Finland and National Health Commission Office (NHCO) Thailand, the Province of Québec, and the State of South Australia as a side event during World Health Assembly (WHA) on May 24 2017.
The meeting was convened soon after the launch resulting in an establishment of Transitional Steering Committee (TSC). To support the Network and plan the first months of activities, an Executive Committee (EXCOM), consisting of Ministry of Public Health of Sudan, National Health Commission Office of Thailand, South Australia Health, Global Health Centre and the World Health Organization, has been formed from the TSC.
GNHiAP aims to work with different stakeholders from different sectors at all levels to address social determinants of health by strengthen the HiAP approach. The aim is to support the implementation of SDGs and UHC by building capacity, sharing knowledge, promoting community practice and and supporting evidence to inform policy.
In October 2017, A TSC decided to hold the 1st meeting of Global Network for Health in All Policies (GNHiAP) at Sampran Riverside Hotel, Nakorn Pathom, Thailand hosted by National Health Commission Office, Thailand. The participants came from 9 countries across 6 WHO regions and 2 academic Institutions plus WHO, UNEP and UNESCO. The important outputs from the meeting are the elected chairperson, the steering committee and the executive committee. The governance structure and the 3-year workplan were approved accordingly.
